Jo (Jonette) Dixon is currently the District Curriculum Coordinator for K-12 Health and Physical Education in Poudre School District in Fort Collins, CO. She has taught Physical Education, Health Education and Adaptive Physical Education for 24 years at the middle school and high school levels in Colorado and Missouri prior.
She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, a Health Education minor, and a Master’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science (Physical Education Pedagogy), both from the University of Central Missouri.
Jo provides professional development to teachers at the local, state and national levels in highly effective teaching, best practices, assessment, and social emotional learning in both Health and Physical Education. She has presented over 150 times in 26 states. She mentors many new teachers in the field and was honored as a State and Central District Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year, and by SHAPE Colorado for a Distinguished Service Award and Pathfinder Award, and as an Excellence in Education Teacher of the Year finalist for Poudre School District. She has also coached softball, basketball, track and field, and cross country at the high school and middle school levels. She enjoys snowboarding, adventuring and working out.
