About me
Dave Yonkie is beginning his thirtieth year in public education, and has more than forty years experience coaching youth sports. Prior to his current role as K-12 P.E. Coordinator for JeffCo Schools, Dave honed his teaching skills as an elementary P.E. teacher in Arvada, Colorado. The nineteen years he spent in schools with students, and other teachers instilled in him a deep appreciation for the complexity and important work of health and physical educators. In his work at the District level, Dave strives to advocate for quality health and physical education opportunities for all students, in every Jeffco school. Dave is a proud member of SHAPE Colorado, and was honored to be recognized as SHAPE Colorado 2019 Administrator-of-the Year. When he isn’t busy writing curriculum, planning staff development and supporting new teachers through the induction process, you can find Dave on the “pitch” coaching youth soccer, tinkering in his garage, working in the yard or enjoying the many trails and hiking opportunities in Colorado. Dave is married twenty-four years and has a daughter studying for her MBA at CU Denver.
