Welcome to the Second Annual Colorado Health and Physical Education Summit 2025
This is a free professional development event. The Summit supported and developed by the Colorado Health and Physical Education Council, the council consists of health and physical education district coordinators and other partners from across the state of Colorado. This summit promises inspiration, networking opportunities, and a shared commitment to fostering healthier futures.
During this session you will see a resource that Nick has been working on to show best practices in elementary PE. He has video and commentary on how he runs his classes and the activities that he does. This includes all aspects of instruction from warm ups to assessments.
Session Objectives:
1. Demonstrate and explain Nick's program and resources. 2. Show what a demonstration classroom looks like in PE.

Session Description: This workshop will explore best practices to engaging youth in PE and health through an inclusive and affirming lens. Participants will explore their own values, strengthen skills to affirm young people, and resources to take back to their classrooms!
Session Objectives: Participants will be able to: 1. Explore strategies to create safe and affirming spaces in their classrooms and gyms. 2. Identify their own values and how to be values expansive educators. 3. Create action items to take inclusive strategies and tools back to their learning spaces.

Session Description: How to use IDOCEO as a tool to assess your students. The video tool is used to assess progress while the student takes ownership of their growth in learning.
Objectives: 1) Simplify assessment and blend it into the things we are already doing. 2) Incorporate video analysis into the classroom 3) Goal setting with students

This session utilizes case scenarios to focus teacher attention on the critical components of supervising and managing a safe learning environment in movement settings. Through presenter facilitation, and small group conversation teachers will explore their own current safety protocols and weigh those against generally accepted best practices to consider potential areas for improvement. Teachers consider behaviors and strategies that can guard against misunderstandings and potential allegations to protect themselves, and their students.
Session Objectives:
Identify potential hazards and risks associated with various movement activities and use of equipment.
Implement strategies to minimize the risk of injury.
Foster a culture of safety awareness among students.
Utilize strategies to protect yourself and students from misunderstandings & potential allegations.
