This is a free professional development event. The Summit supported and developed by the Colorado Health and Physical Education Council, the council consists of health and physical education district coordinators and other partners from across the state of Colorado. This summit promises inspiration, networking opportunities, and a shared commitment to fostering healthier futures.
Join the presenter, as she takes you on her personal journey and shares the intimate details of how color and privilege have impacted a life of trauma, grief and loss. All examples and experiences are factors that could be considered when planning, implementing, assessing and promoting quality physical education and health education programs. Session Description: We'll teach the critical skills needed for early care of a sudden cardiac arrest victim. Additionally, we'll offer a unique approach to build a team of lifesavers to save a precious life. Each participant will receive a two-year Starting Hearts certification card.
Session Objectives:
1. Provide the fundamental steps (beyond CPR) to save a life. 2. Demonstrate the leadership skills to quickly develop a team, delegate responsibilities, and oversee a cardiac emergency. 3. Build confidence to act when needed.

This session utilizes case scenarios to focus teacher attention on the critical components of supervising and managing a safe learning environment in movement settings. Through presenter facilitation, and small group conversation teachers will explore their own current safety protocols and weigh those against generally accepted best practices to consider potential areas for improvement. Teachers consider behaviors and strategies that can guard against misunderstandings and potential allegations to protect themselves, and their students.
Session Objectives:
Identify potential hazards and risks associated with various movement activities and use of equipment.
Implement strategies to minimize the risk of injury.
Foster a culture of safety awareness among students.
Utilize strategies to protect yourself and students from misunderstandings & potential allegations.

Session Description: In this workshop you will get an example of how to run an inclusive Unified Physical Education class with resources when working with student mentors, paras, and co teachers. You will also walk away with activities that my Unified PE class loves to do!

Double the J's, double the learning. Jen Vidal and Jodie Abrams will split this session with guiding you to a certification in FA/CPR/AED and then learning more about promoting healthy lifestyles with AHA
Session Description: Explore how the Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge resources can engage students, promote heart healthy lifestyles, and help you reach your Colorado Academic Standards. We will experience interactive games, share ideas, have giveaways, and learn about new program features. Get ready to get moving and have some fun! Session Objectives: Participants will be able to learn and demonstrate how to incorporate the American Heart Association’s resources to teach physical and personal wellness, social emotional wellness, movement competence and understanding, and prevention and risk management through physical education.

In this session, we prioritize participation, enjoyment, and personal relevance, ensuring that every individual, regardless of skill level or ability, feels successful and empowered. We begin by creating a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable to participate and express themselves freely. Through leveling of skills, games you can play anywhere, and cooperative games, we establish a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect among participants. The session is structured to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, providing opportunities for both individual and collaborative exploration. We offer a variety of activities, ranging from traditional sports in a more inclusive way to new, creative ideas to include in your planning next year, allowing participants to discover and develop their strengths in different areas. Our emphasis to empower you to place goals on the process rather than the outcome. Come play Street Racket, Bucket Ball, Royalty of the Court among other ideas to engage your students in a meaningful way.
